First impressions of Simon was his genuine enthusiasm, dedication, energy and passion for building homes. This was evident from the first moment we met him until handover day. We were impressed by the detailed quote and the quality of inclusions provided and we knew from our initial meeting that Simon was going to build us an exceptional home of the highest standard.
Even though we had built a few houses before, we respected Simon's expertise and guidance in making changes to the plan, which in the end saved us from making costly mistakes.
Communication is paramount when taking on a project of this size and Simon and his team regularly gave us updates on progress and allowed us to be as involved in the build as we wanted.
The quality of trades working on our house were exceptional and each one gave 110% very hardworking and such attention to detail. They all took great pride in their work which is reflected in the home.

As with any leader, the support from the team is invaluable and Tania and Kristy have been an important part of our journey. Both having significant input in terms of selections and ideas we had not considered. Tania was always available to answer endless questions and very knowledgeable of the building codes and standards, never complaining when we needed to make changes, always with a smile. Kristy and her team worked tirelessly on our kitchen design to produce a beautiful yet functional kitchen, a real showstopper!

Our build was unique as we lived in Sydney and this meant communication and relationships were key. After meeting Simon, visiting a number of his clients homes and hearing from others in the community about the quality of his work, we knew Simon was the builder for us.

David and I planned our retirement home in FNQ after 20+ years living in the Northern Territory. Building a new home from interstate seemed a daunting prospect, but after references for a suitable builder, we chose Higham Building Group.
Simon made time for us! His inspirational suggestions on how to position the house on the sloping land, complete the finishes with style in an enthusiastic manner, gave us the confidence to engage him.
During the building process we were only able to visit the site several times, so his regular communication was invaluable. Sending photos of completed stages and consulting us when a design problem arose, to discuss it, often with a solution in mind.

We cannot speak highly enough of Simon, and his team, at Higham Building Group. We have built on several occasions, both residential and commercial properties, and we can honestly say, that HBG team is a stand out, in all aspects, across the board.
Most notably, Simon’s attention to detail is incredible. At our first meeting Simon critically assessed every detail of our plans, and made practical and astute recommendations, while keeping a firm eye on our budget. We were provided with an impressively detailed quote, giving us the ‘tools’ to consider each aspect of the construction carefully, enabling us to make well-informed decisions. This, along with Simon and the teams excellent communication throughout, ensured the project was a dream run. We decided to use Higham Building to build our new home after viewing several homes built by them, in Atherton.
We were impressed by the practical and personal designs of those homes and by the standard of the workmanship and finish. Several of the features we noted in those homes were later incorporated into our home’s design. In the initial design stage, Simon’s assistance proved to be invaluable as we had little experience in home building, this being the first we have had built.
For much of the construction we lived nearby and were impressed by the professionalism of the company’s staff and its contractors, and by the standard of workmanship and materials used in the construction.
We have now been living in our home for six months and have not encountered a single problem with any aspect of the house.

We consider ourselves fortunate to have chosen Simon to build our retirement home in Yungaburra. The end result was excellent, captured our vision for the house and was everything we could have wished for.

We felt that Simon's organisation and managing of his crew and the many sub-contractors was first rate. The job ran smoothly and Simon deftly handled the necessary adjustments that invariably have to be made when scheduling and synchronising a multi-faceted team.

Within the first five minutes of meeting Simon it was obvious that he had a lot to offer. As he studied our plan he was filled with energy and enthusiasm. Simon didn’t just see a plan, he saw our home and understood where we were going with it. He became our ideas man.
Before Simon quoted the job, he would ask us if we had thought of this or that. Had we considered increasing the size of the veranda posts, or should we go a brick higher in the garage entrance, would it be better if that door swung the other way? The list goes on, but the point is Simon is always thinking about how he can deliver the best outcome for our family needs and our budget.
We couldn’t be happier with our home. Simon’s energy and enthusiasm was as much alive on the last day of construction, as it was the first. Simon had input into just about every decision. He became our builder/interior designer/colour coordinator/landscape artist. He built this house like it was his own and nothing seemed too much trouble. He would do his best to make our requests come to life.
Behind every great builder is a great team. Simon’s team starts with Kristy who keeps the office side of their business going as well as offering client services such as suggestions on what’s new, design, colour and decor. Then there is Simon’s crew. We were lucky enough to have the entire team work on our house and each of them should be commended. We’d also like to mention the other tradesmen. We have no doubt that Simon has handpicked these people for their quality of work – and honestly it speaks for itself.
Some people say that Simon won these awards because he was lucky enough to have a larger house to build. However, we see it very differently. Numerous judges have come through our home on several different occasions. They look at everything..... Nothing goes unnoticed. Each tradesman’s work is under scrutiny.
That is why we believe that the quality of workmanship, that was evident in every stage of our build, has been recognised. Peter and I and our family have finished up with a beautiful but practical home, while Simon, Kristy and their team have landed Regional, State and National recognition for their excellence. We are all pretty happy with that!
It would be impossible to speak too highly of Simon and his very professional and talented team. The conversion he accomplished by changing a very small modest concrete block house into an outstanding award winning home that took advantage of our incredible view, was remarkable. He certainly attained the "wow" factor.
Given our project was a major conversion, it meant lots and lots of unknowns and problems, but Simon handled all with total professionalism. Each time an issue would arise it would be solved with a minimum of fuss. We think he knew what we wanted better than we did!! He has gathered a great team of workers and subbies around him and this of course, is the recipe to success. Simon and Kristy have our absolute confidence. We are sure they will go far.
Renovations can be a nightmare, but Simon turned ours into a beautiful dream.
